WEDNESDAY EVENING PRAYER SERVICE

Hornerstown Baptist Church Believes that our prayer meetings are the power of all the work,
both teaching and service, we do. It is the engine which makes the ministry run, the boiler that
heats the house, and ultimately the cry and plea to our Father and Heaven to bless us with his
promises, expand his kingdom, sanctify our hearts, and build up his church by His Precious Holy Spirit. For, throughout all of the Scriptures, we see that all the ministry in both the Old and New Testament is grounded upon the gathering of God’s people to pray, and through our prayers together does God hear us, respond to us, and accomplish his work at bringing redemption to the whole world. So, based on this conviction we have decided to meet weekly on Wednesday’s to pray.

WHEN AND WHERE IS SERVICE HELD?
Our prayer meetings are held in our education building directly next to the church sanctuary. Our
meetings are held at 7pm, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Our decision to alternate weeks is to provide more opportunities for our church body to meet and pray, and accommodate their schedules, for the purpose of having everyone attend. We ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes prior in order to start on time.

HOW LONG ARE THE PRAYER MEETINGS?
They last between an hour to an hour and a half, for we want to accommodate schedules as it is a mid-week event, yet during our time we want to be diligent in our prayers together.

WHAT IS THE PRAYER MEETING LIKE? IS THERE OTHER THINGS BESIDES
PRAYING?

The service is structured by 1) Opening Hymn, 2) Listing Prayers, 3) Praying, 4) Bible Teaching

and 5) Closing Hymn. We teach the Bible alongside our praying because we want the Bible to inform

and teach us how we ought to pray, and what to pray for. Moreover, the service is sandwiched between

two hymns to help our hearts be lifted up in praise to God.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Just yourself, nothing else is required. However some people like to bring their Bibles, and a
notepad, but that is optional.

IS THERE CHILDCARE?
Currently, no. But we are planning on having it eventually. But there is a nursery available if
needed.

CAN I BRING MY TEENAGE CHILDREN?
Absolutely! Just because we don’t have anything designed for them, doesn’t suggest we don’t
want them apart of our time. We encourage young people to pray with older men and woman, as
it will lead them to maturity and godliness.
